OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIn addition to Massage Therapy, I am also a West Coast Swing Dancer and Instructor. I run a local group called Hudson Valley West Coast Swing out of Kingston, NY which is designed to educate and grow our local dance community.

Research has shown that Dancing is one of the best ways to keep both the Mind and Body in good health.  Dance has been proven to be one of the best ways to reduce your risk of Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

The Power of Dance: Health and Healing

Hanna JL. – University of Maryland, Bethesda 20817, USA

Dance involves the culturally mediated body, emotion, and mind. So do illness and pain. Dance may promote wellness by strengthening the immune system through muscular action and physiological processes. Dance conditions an individual to moderate, eliminate, or avoid tension, chronic fatigue, and other disabling conditions that result from the effects of stress. Dance may help the healing process as a person gains a sense of control through (1) possession by the spiritual in dance, (2) mastery of movement, (3) escape or diversion from stress and pain through a change in emotion, states of consciousness, and/or physical capability, and (4) confronting stressors to work through ways of handling their effects.

I tried many of the massage therapists in the Hudson Valley over several years. Three years ago I noticed Pamela’s sign on Albany Ave in Kingston and I was really glad I did.

Since then I visit her religiously (twice monthly) and I do not let any other massage therapist touch me. I am hooked…

Pamela is my most trusted health professional. Her techniques never fail to amaze me. She is a genuine, caring, professional massage therapist who has a continually evolving and deep understanding of the human body.
