Hot Stone Massage

Stone Massage close-up face

This deeply relaxing method combines heated Basalt stones and massage to create the ultimate relaxation experience. It provides the benefits of deep heat both with strategically placed stones and through the use of the stones in the massage itself. Patients often comment that they feel like they are floating or melting into the table. The heat warms and relaxes the muscles which allows for deeper pressure. The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.

This massage generally lasts about 75 – 90 minutes because of the extra time needed to prepare the client and incorporate the stones into the massage. You will start face up and a number of heated stones will be placed on the body to begin the relaxation process. The water bath for the stones is  generally around 140 degrees Fahrenheit although the temperature can be varied to suit the comfort of the client. Once those stones are in place, the massage begins. Specially prepared oils are used to help in the relaxation process. Different sized and shaped stones are used to work in different areas… in total, about 50 different stones will be used throughout the massage.

Hot stone massage is not recommended for pregnant women, those with high blood pressure, diabetics, those who have weak or broken bones, diseases that may be spread through the lymphatic system such as cancer or infections, or open sores or wounds. Check with your physician to be certain you don’t have a health concern that may be contraindicated for a hot stone massage.

Testimonials

I tried many of the massage therapists in the Hudson Valley over several years. Three years ago I noticed Pamela’s sign on Albany Ave in Kingston and I was really glad I did.

Since then I visit her religiously (twice monthly) and I do not let any other massage therapist touch me. I am hooked…

Pamela is my most trusted health professional. Her techniques never fail to amaze me. She is a genuine, caring, professional massage therapist who has a continually evolving and deep understanding of the human body.
